(About MP3 downloads at CD Baby)

Alternative/pop/acoustic. Imagine Elvis Costello marrying the Beatles.

notes

This is some of the best acoustic pop you have heard.

Songwriting that is as good as and reminds you of the Beatles and Elvis Costello all in one.

Listen to this in its acoustic form before Butch's CD in a full band sound comes out.

A real collectors item!

  • 4 Song EP Sure To Please....
    author: Popweasel

Stripped down acoustic arrangements of 4 GREAT songs. I assume this EP pre-dates Butch's full fledged album, which also has these songs on it. I was not disappointed, because the sparse arrangement created an intimacy, and raw emotion that really allowed the songwriting to take center stage. The comparisons to Costello are deserved, the intro to "Same Breath" has a distinctive Costello flavor a-la "Shabby Doll", making it my fave on this EP. My only complaint is I would have liked to have had more material

  • Butch has got tallent. It's about time the world notices him!
    author: Charles Campbell

This record is simple and too the point. All you notice is the guitar and the words. Butch really writes with feeling. The melodies are catchy and you'll be humming the songs all day. I can't wait to haer what else he's got in store for us.

  • pop smarts in the best sense of the term
    author: Hard Luck Cafe

Extremely talented young man with that seemingly effortless feel that's few and far between in artists. Gorgeous lush vocal harmonies, toe tapping guitar and songwriting with pop smarts in the best sense of the term. I don't know about anyone else, but even though I love my Radiohead and Remy Zero, sometimes I yearn for music that isn't afraid to be strong melodically in an unabashed pop music sort of way. True to Butch's bio, I did find myself singing these songs to myself long after a play.

I listened carefully to your songs and feel that it is better than 85% of the unsigned material out there.

The depth of emotion and subtle interplay between the lyric and music adds a deeper dimension to the passage of love and relationship. From the first adventureinto this music I was intrigued with his voice. The music caught my ear before the words began to register. The opening track is enchanting and set the tone for the whole CD. This is a simple, elegant CD with strong insight and sweet harmonies.
