Album Notes

Born in Bronx, New York but raised in Oakland, California, Buz’s career began in 1985 when he was asked to audition for a bay area group called The Timex Social Club who at the time had the number one song in the country (Rumors).

BUZ auditioned for the group and found himself four days later rehearsing at the San Francisco Airport while waiting for a flight to Roanoke, Virginia where the group would continue to open up for Run DMC, Whoodini, LL Cool J and the Beastie Boys on the Raising Hell Tour, which is still to date one of the biggest Rap tours ever, and the tour that catapulted its acts, record label (Def-Jam), and Russell Simmons into Hip Hop and American history.

The Social Clubs breakup prompted Buz to continue in the music field but in another capacity. After six months on the Raising Hell Tour and six more months opening up for artists like Jermaine Jackson, Morris Day, the SOS Band, Midnight Star and many more, as well as headlining there own shows it was time to try a different approach to the music.

Oakland California has always been a contributor to this industry we call The Music Business, with iconic artist like Graham Central Station, Sly Stone, The Pointer Sisters, gospel legends The Hawkins, Darryl Coley, E-40, Too Short, and BUZ’s high school partners Tony Toni Tone.

In 1988 BUZ embarked upon a journey with the Tonies on the road as they released their first album for then Mercury/PolyGram records as personal assistant and co-road manager to the group but was never satisfied with that aspect of the business.

From past to present, after writing, arranging and singing for such artists as Tony Toni Tone, Najee, Kenya Gruv, George Duke, Dionne Warwick, Art N Soul to name a few, and so many unreleased acts, it was now time for BUZ to create something personal and soulful to give to the world to let them know that there are still artists out there who have been slapped around by the industry because of their age or the way they look, and programmed to listen to the jingles they call music that we hear 12 or 24 times a day.

Innovation and not imitation is key to success.

Oakland Soul Entertainment proudly presents a singer songwriter who would like you to first listen to the music and search your soul while you clean the crib, or while you’re at work or at play or whatever you do with your day.

You like me… come on in! You love me… tell a friend!

Great album/reminds me of a real solo artist with new life and not a sound alike

Most artists sound like someone but buz sounds like Buz. If I had to compare his voice I would say he has a Luther overtone with a lot of Marvin and Earth Wind and Fire melody. Definitley someone to watch for in the coming years. Album is short, but sweet, especially First Timez and She Wears My Ring.... Great songs, very provocative and sexy. Grown folks music. Great Buy!
