“A Farewell to Asheville” was purposely made to be approachable? What’s wrong with it? I’m about two days short of finishing my follow up record, but why? Since moving away from Asheville I haven’t played any shows or made any friends. I am king loser of crap mountain. All hail my lameness!
But seriously, listen to clips of “Take a Bath W/ the Buzzman” (the link should be around her somewhere) and tell me “A Farewell to Asheville” is weird or non-approachable. Am I confused?
Okay, I know what it is. It’s my voice. That’s what I thought. Unfortunately, my family never sang together and my friends in grade school pressured me into lip-syncing at a very young age. The fact that I have ever sang in front of people amazes me and sometimes keeps me up at night with a strange feeling of shame. There is some scar tissue with my voice and me.
Well, maybe it’s not the pipes…
Could it be that I have no clear stylistic crux? That would make sense. At best there are two similar sounding songs on “A Farewell to Asheville”. You people want one song rewritten ten to twelve times. Am I right? Tell me what you think…
