Once again,B-yond proves that there is still a place for straight up R&B in a hip hop influenced musical world. Right from the opening track,"Just For You" pulls you into this 16 track CD,full of bright vocals ,smart lyrics,deep grooves,and smooth love songs. Tim Powell holds down the fort by writing,producing,as well as performing on, every track on the CD. Powell has always collaborated when producing and writing for B-yond,TJ and the Band,and the Back Alley Blues Band in the past. Powell has proven to be a talent to be reckoned with on this CD. The well-crafted R&B dance tracks and soul ballads are extremely satisfying and are some of Powell's finest work. The entire CD showcases B-yond's signature love relationship lyrics/stories from everyday life/love situations. Back it up with some fine music and "Just For You" is R&B at its finest.
The opening track "sunshine" tells of a man's true description of his loving woman. The hard hitting "she's hot" tells of most men's experience in pursuing the ultimate woman. The club banger "bounce" is sure to get you doing your thing unconsciously. As well as learning how to step on the dancey "take care of your woman".The soul ballad "you're good for me" stands out as one of the best tracks on the CD. This one is all about the lyrics which will have the ladies smiling for sure. "love you down" also offers a deep slow vibe sure to get her in the mood. Admirers of megastar R.Kelly will surely enjoy "holiday" a very lyrical smart groove that will have a woman appreciating being referred to as a festive holiday rather than a jeep or car. The heavily syncopated,bass poppin' "lucky one" is sure to have heads noddin'.
Overall,"Just For You" delivers strong and captures your attention. It will definetly be one of the CD's to have for the summer of '05. B-yond displays that R&B can still be entertaining,innocent,and will hold its own regardless. Enjoy.
