These volumes represent the finest descargas that have been done since Cachao's work in the late 50s. Walfredo De Los Reyes, Francisco "Paquito" Hechavarria, Tany Gil and Cachao make up the core of this exquisite ensemble who call themselves Grupo Wal-Pa-Ta-Ca. They do some remarkable experimentations here that sound as fresh today as they did ten years ago. You can hear their confidence — this organization seems like a completely connected unit. What grooves! A must get.
