Album Notes

Coral has been a musician since childhood and a shy but active singer and songwriter since 1970. With a background in fine arts, metaphysics and mythology, her music is inspired by both personal and collective trials and the triumphs of the soul. Singing harmonies with herself & others and collaborating with other musicians has lead to this unique, experimental CD made in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Ordinarily more acoustically inclined and prone to solo venues, Coral’s 1st CD is an exploration of new terrain aided by her co-producer Kevin Zoernig.

Each song comes to life as the characters reveal their stories and origins. Many of the songs are humorous and semi-autobiographical and some document political and spiritual musings. The use of instruments as far-ranging as a Tibetan singing bowl in dialogue with a Theremin on Mr Right & Ms Tree makes for a strange and beautiful journey. And the dulcimer driving Sojourner as if it is a rock instrument rather than a traditional folk instrument
offers a danceable, potentizing quality to the abstract lyrics, suggesting a Shaman’s task is afoot.

Coral lives on the tropical west coast of Mexico in the state of Nayarit for most of the year. She sings in English & Spanish and is currently translating many of her songs into Spanish with the help of a poetic friend.

An adventurous life keeps her inspired on the serious playground. Coral’s CD, String of Pearls, is dedicated to the memory of Laura Nyro, to her parents Jack & Evelyn,
and to her dear friend Kito Peters, one of her all time favorite singer/songwriters.

REVIEWS

This is an exceptional CD, one you'll want to add to your collection
author: J.M.Lamoreux
String of Pearls is a collection of extremely well composed and produced songs about growing up and coping with a tough world. And yet, the response to all this hardness doesn't succumb to bitterness and anger. Instead, the refrain is one of hope and inner strength. There is a stalwart kind of wisdom in the lyrics; the music will stay with you all day. The voice is strong and carries the words and their meaning extremely well, but is also simultaneously gentle in its delivery in a comfortable, endearing way. The personality of the artist comes through like someone you'd like to have a drink with at an outside cafe by the sea...and just listen. This CD is well worth the price...the music will stay with you all day long, and beyond. If you need a lift or just a good friend, buy String of Pearls today.
