Album Notes

The Cajun Company CD "Testing one one" contains a collection of traditional Cajun dance hall favorites from the 20's and 30's.

The songs are played the old timey way on acoustic instruments: the Cajun accordeon, twin fiddles, acoustic guitar and triangle.

They generate a rich sound that faithfully recreates the expressive power and intensity of that musical era.

Picture a bayou in Louisiana in the 1920s or 30s. You're just lounging on the back porch under summer's humid crush, waiting for the sun to set. And all you've got to cool you down is a tall cool glass of lemonade, and some friends/family playing accordions, guitars, fiddles, and anything else to keep a beat. This CD collection of traditional Cajun favorites that could be compared to the sound track of "O brother, Where Art Thou?" if the characters had all spoken French.

Picture a bayou house in the 1920s or 30s. You’re just lounging on the back porch under summer’s humid crush, waiting for the sun to set. And all you’ve got to cool you down is a tall cool glass of lemonade, and some friends/family playing accordions, guitars, fiddles, and anything else to keep a beat. This CD collection of traditional favorites that could be compared to the sound track of O brother, Where Art Thou? if the script had been written in French, and the set had been a little more humid. Completely authentic, totally pure, this CD would be a great place to start an appreciation of the style, or a welcome item for the collector of traditional Cajun music.
