"FLASH FLOOD" received a nomination for the 2008 Carolina Beach Music Award (CBMA) for Solo Album of the Year. This is Flash's second CBMA nomination in the last few years.
This CD is a unique blend of Adult Comtemporary Rock N' Roll and Ballads, Carolina Beach and Shag Music, and Gospel music performed by singer/songwriter Calabash Flash of Calabash, NC. This 18 song CD is definitely NOT a "hear one song and you have heard them all" type of CD. It is unusual to find a CD that contains such a variety of original music covering several genres. Whether you just slow dance, or swing, bop, or shag, there is something on this CD to dance to. Perhaps you just want to sing along. Well, sing your heart out to "Just Another Day In Paradise" (perfect for you Jimmy Buffet Fans), or "Work, Work, Work, Crazy, Crazy, Crazy. "Eye of the Beholder" is currently on several Beach Music charts and has been on them for most of this year. "Just Another Day in Paradise" and "Eye Of The Beholder" was on one chart for a long period of time, and as a result, were put into one radio station's Hall of Fame. When the Christmas season comes around again, play "Everybody Goes Home For Christmas" to warm your heart. This CD has is all.
The official popular music of North and South Carolina is "Carolina Beach Music" and the official state dance of South Carolina is the "Shag". Flash lives in North Carolina and is deeply involved in the Shag life style that is a unique part of life in the southeastern United States and several of his songs reflect that involvement. He was nominated for the Carolina Beach Music Awards Songwriter of the Year award for 2002 for the song "One Track Mind".
