Album Notes

The Calder Project is a brilliant recording of highly personal and original songs that Calder Spanier was about to release before his tragic death on December 4, 1997.

Although Spanier was a prolific composer in many styles of music, this collection represents the best of his jazz-flavored rock tunes.

Spanier's art herein is that of fine song crafting: lyrical melodies, sophisticated harmonies, complex yet accessible rhythms, and inspired arrangements. He comments with amusement, confusion, and good-natured hopefulness on the experiences of life in the modern world.

This disc features Spanier on vocals, guitar, bass, keyboards, and sax with guest appearances by Charlie Hunter, Jack West, Scott Amendola, Scott Jensen, and others. All profits go to Spanier's wife and daughter.
