Album Notes

Memory Well is the latest cd from extraordinary Nova Scotia singer/songwriter/guitarist Caleb Miles. Picking up where 2006's Brickyard Road left off, the songs on Memory Well run the gamut from blues and country to roots-rock, Revolver-era pop and jazz-tinged standards to experimental loops made with rusty push mowers. A multi-instrumentalist who plays drums, bass, keyboards, as well as all manner of guitars and stringed instruments, Caleb's recordings are augmented by tasty contributions from local musicians Caleb Hamilton on trumpet, Ariana Nasr on violin, Mark Bezanson on bass, Alex Porter on drums, and Bob Federer on piano.

Memory Well takes you on a complete journey through the personal experiences of a life-long musician with powerful and direct lyrics and a classic late-60s approach to arrangements and recording. Love, death, and a world gone crazy are all explored with sensitivity and grim humour. "One-trick pony" is not a term that applies to Caleb Miles; he's got more than a few up his sleeve!
