FOLLOW ME

Welcome to the experience of Calibe. First and always a reggae artist, her EP features tracks suitable for reggae, world, urban, pop, rock (track 6) and dance (track 7) formats.

The voice and approach you will hear will introduce on the one hand what Sean Paul might sound like, were he a young woman with Sade's vocal texture, on the other, a seductive island woman with a broader appeal than just the ethnic market. The tracks range from club tempo to mid tempo to reggae/rock. The topics range from young life, to young love, to inspiration. Occassionally suggestive, every track is free of expletives and suitable for any age group.

BIOGRAPHY

Imagine the meeting of dancehall/reggae with pop, R&B, funk and jazz, presented with unforced, even laid back intensity, and you begin to get a sense of what Calibe brings to the musical table. As the Black Eyes Peas are to hip-hop, so Calibe is to reggae. She is the result of an island upbringing saturated with such outside influences as Lauryn Hill, Stevie Wonder and Anita Baker.

In 2002 Calibe became a finalist in Jamaica's Caribbean Music Expo Star Search. A series of recordings followed with US producers including Kwame Holland, the force behind Lloyd Banks' hit On Fire and Will Smith's Switch.

Through an ongoing association with legendary Sly and Robbie, she was enlisted to sing vocals for their track on Beenie Man's Tropical Storm album. Calibe earned a spot accompanying the dancehall superstar on major tours incorporating Europe, Canada, the Caribbean and the United States. Eventually Calibe began touring with another Caribbean crossover, Kevin Lyttle, who she has opened for in Europe and the US.

With recordings covering a varied landscape both in sounds and themes, good looks, undeniable presence, an engaging sound and a sense of moral responsibility, Calibe has all the hallmarks of a legend in the making.
