Album Notes

It all began last summer when LA's favorite couple Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott asked their favorite musicians to write a song for their hit show, Tori and Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood. The song was an instant classic and California Gold was born. After having so much fun working together, the three songwriters decided to keep the party going. Recently California Gold completed their debut EP which is filled with golden gooses and indie/pop/folk gems. Heather Marie Ellison (Uni & Her Ukelele), Barry Elias Davis (Kashmere), and Alexander M Burke (Magnolia Memoirs) will be touring all year in support of the new California sound.

Five tracks of the most brilliant executed music i've heard in a long time. The harmonies and use of only 3 or so instruments is just breathtaking. Well worth the money...roll on the album !

With a terrific mix of voices and instruments, this EP just oozes sweetness. From the ukulele/piano/guitar instrumentation, to the gentle mixing of the timbres the male and female vocals, these songs are easily lovable. With these five romantic songs, often with the male and female voices trading lines then harmonizing, this trio of songwriters knows just how to craft & deliver a catchy tune. From the jaunty "So in Love" to the twee dance ditty "Take a chance on me" (which sounds nothing like the ABBA song of the same name). Fans of the M. Ward/Zooey Deschanel collaboration She & Him will find a lot to like here, and may even notice the similarity in the female voices. Both are sweet, gentle, and sincere without being schmaltzy. It's a refreshing dose of innocence and enchantment that will leave you begging for a followup LP.
