Album Notes

Caligator\'s forth CD \"Cork Sniffer\" offers up a
great mix of 10 new upbeat songs. We bring into the Caligator fold our new drummer Mark Baker, who made this CD really flow with solid beats that have that magic groove.

Special Guests included added guitar, keys, sax, vocals,
persian santoor, and a mean slide guitar played by Dan Sisson.

The recording was done at Crocketts Chicken Shack
in Carmichael CA. and it might be the very best sounding CD Caligator has ever recorded.

The songs:
clowns in the dark - a great moving groove, a
touch of Hendrix & Vai. one of my personal faves.

county line - just a fun older rock feel with a cool
jam at the end with sax, slide, and singing guitars.

sol - a sleepy day at the beach song, great melody
to lull you into a trance.

cork sniffer - The title track, what can i say..total
groove with a Hendrix wah wah tossed in for fun.

persia - a love affair between the west and the
middle east. awesome persian santoor on this song.

tone to the bone - a tribute to the band Trapeze.
All the 70\'s feel you could ever want.

crockett\'s song - lost my little Aussie boy at
x-mas time. will miss him for the rest of my life.

lifes an illusion - allways wanted to write a Yes
type song, this was my attempt. \"great keys Tim\".

EVH - you must know who this is for....pulled out
all stops on the guitars.

yata hae - another fave, great grooves and cool
sax. great jam at the end with sax & guitar.

well thats it folks.....hope yo\'all like it........corky.

Can't Wait to Hear...

I can't wait to hear this through my home system! Corky, my computer speakers are decent but not worthy!! You kill me. I know I could always stop by and get it. But after three times of that, I'll just buy it....'cause I WANT IT NOW! The sound and mix is phenomenal! Add that to some great musicians and you have a wonderful album. LOL - album - dating myself here. Hey, you CD Baby fans : Check these guys out! You will NOT be disappointed!! Once again, a great mix of southern blues warped with jazzy funk...then some heavy stuff that will shake your windows. Add some clean, heart-felt passages and there ya go. Corky, you killed me with the EVH. That twisted son-uv-a-gun needs to hear your tribute. Great feeling of his type of songs but there is no question of who's really playing here. Eddie eat your heart out! Just my ramblings, I'll give ya a call. Jeff

The Corkmeister Does It AGAIN!

Cork! Bro! You know, I was kicked back thinking how we rocked out all those years ago and how we sounded GOOD! Crappy reel to reel cutting out on one channel and a couple of band members from HELL! (remember "You have to pay me to take my bass out of the case..." - ugh... tryouts...). Years go by and one day I think "I wonder if Cork has done anything since?". And damn. Have you! Caligator one through three are good. Okay, they're friggin' great. Your songwriting ability has truly refined over the years - you craft a KILLER tune with precision. So yeah, I'm a bit bummed because your guitar playing now kicks my guitar playing's ass, but hey! I am glad to see you are composing some of the finest music I've ever heard. Then along comes "Cork Sniffer". Damn! Dude, you can quit now. Really. You've done us all in. Wavy Davy. The Gibs. SRV. All of us. Your playing is what can only be referred to as legendary! Your band - perfect! Your guests - perfect! The songs - ahem, did I mention... perfect? And, you've finally captured your tone. Dude, this CD kicks ass. I don't want to sound redundant, but DAMN! You may as well quit now cause I'm pretty sure you can't get any better. rat (a jealous rat, fer sure dude! - you rock!) Hope to see you soon alive and in person - save me a spot at one of your Sacramento gigs!

Boonie's music review
author: Dan Boone

Boonie's Music Reviews Everyone has an opinion Mine's just the only one that counts! I just received the new cd from Caligator a few days ago. I've had the pleasure of listening to all of their cd's along with every one that Corky has recorded. As soon as I got it I tore it open to listen to it. Now folks, I don't have a killer sound system. I had to listen the first time on my daughter's $ 50.00 cd player. Even on it the sound blew me away. The mixing, the clarity, and the killer songs. If that isn't a testament to quality I don't know what is. I don't claim to be an expert. In fact, I don't have a clue of the equipment necessary to reproduce this sound. What I do know is what I like. Ok, enough about the sound lets move on to the music..... This is by far my favorite of thier cd's. I always loved the guitar and Corky's playing. I have tried at playing the guitar so I know the talent it takes to sound like that. The guitar playing ranges from jazzy to sweet and soulful, to kiss ass rock. Sometimes in the same song. It's a nice mixture of change to keep you interested in hearing the rest. I don't want to just sing Corky's praises, the band is tight, the rhythms precise and I love the drum sound. Billy's bass is awesome also. The addition of the guests are a nice option. They play just enough to not be overpowering. A lot of hard work and thought went into the making of this cd. Caligator might not have their pockets lined with gold but I'm sure they have the respect of their peers. Maybe that doesn't satisfy a lifetime of commitment but it has to count for something. Let's get real here, we live in a time where rap artists are multi-millionares. How talented is rap? Their listeners are the same people supporting Obama. Does that tell you anything? Lord help us! You might not agree but I don't really care. Like I said, everyone has an opinion. We still have freedom of speech...... I'd like to thank Caligator for sending the cd and it's been my pleasure to review it. Keep on making music!!!!! Boonie
