Seeing Calle Real you might think it's is punk or hip-hop, but it's not. Calle Real is a modern Latin, a.k.a. Timba and songo as it is breaking up walls that the predecessors never came close to. This band is good news from Stockholm, Sweden, with an unforgivably tight sound and a groove machinery that can melt the heart of listeners all over the world as well as of the Nordic winter. The explosive creativity of the band embraces influences from Cuba and Europe and is based on up-tempo Latin grooves. A heavy thythm section on a base of congas, timbales, drums and solid brass back-ups firming trumpet, trombome, compact piano and a Cuban tres. The band writes, composes and arranges its own music and presents a show well suited for festivals and club gigs. An interesting detail is that the percussionist for Calle Real, Rickard Valdes is the youngest son of multiple Grammy Winner Bebo Valdes and brother to also multiple Grammy Winner Chucho Valdes, arguably two of Cuba's greatest piano players.
