Album Notes

"This New York City singer-songwriter has definately got what it takes"- Village Voice, 6.20.01

Welcome to the re-release of Mary's Daughter with new songs and a new look. After selling out of the original pressing, Dezen went back into the studio with longtime collaborator and producer AB+ and produced three, incredible, never before heard tracks.

Born and raised in New York City, singer, songwriter, producer Cameron Dezen's sound has been called "New Century Soul," amd "Electronic Diva Folk," comnparing her to artists like DIDO and Sarah McLachlan.Mary's Daughter is a unique blend of piano folk, trip hop, and electronica, driven by her startling vocals and passionate songwriting.

Cameron has appeared on WERS in Boston, XM Satellite Radio, FUJIYAMA Radio Japan, as well as on the nationally syndicated PBS show MHZ Presents. She is currently at work on her sophomore album "songs from the prayer room" with her brother Alex Dezen of The Damnwells, and her husband Matt Hammon, producing.

The samples intrigued me enough to buy two copies (to take advantage of the discount -- I had a feeling I'd want to share it) and sure enough I wasn't disappointed. I've listened to it over and over and discover new things to love every time. Intriguing lyrics, great musical variety, yet that consistent voice throughout. I highly recommend it!

I've failed looking for a songwriter to compare with - it's Cameron Dezen a very individual & creative musician, writing beautiful and brilliant songs with excellent arrangements. Favorite Songs ? Absolutely Infectious
author: Dana
One of the things that continuously amazes me about this album is Cameron's musical diversity. No two songs on the disc are alike. With such a wide variety of styles, from the solo piano ballad "You Appear and I Write" to the trip-hop infused samples and beats on "Firehouse" or "Haunt Me," or the R&B flavor of "Undermind," Cameron defies the label "singer-songwriter" and has become one of the most unique musicians in the independent scene today. Her voice is spellbinding, and the entire album purely addictive.
