notes
Recorded in one afternoon in White House, Tennessee - Clay's second album offers eight of his own songs and two of his favorite covers. Like his first album, THE COMANCHE SESSION, all you are going to hear is Clay's voice, guitar and harmonica - not a lot of technological wizardry. Just honest music recorded the "old fashioned way".
Enjoy the range of material included on this album...from Cowboy ballads, to traditional country to killer slide blues guitar.
OVER & OVER - Jim Reeves could have sung this one...Very traditional country
TWANGY GUITAR - Clay wrote this one at a Kroger Store during a "Nashville snowstorm" (ie -1/8" blowing and drifting snow flakes!)
(Ain't Enough) WHISKEY - a la George Jones
GUITAR MAN - Clay wrote this one just after visiting Hank Williams' Sr's grave in Montgomery, AL
THE BUFFALO GRASS - Chris LeDoux cut this song on his new album due out July 2003!!!
DALLAS - Clay's smoking version of this Johnny Winters blues tune
(I Overheat In A) HEARTBEAT - A sexy song about lust...
GOOD OLD BOYS - Don Williams recorded this Bob McDill song about growing up in the South
WHISKEY'S FINE - Good shuffle
NOTE: Be sure to buy Chris LeDoux's new album...HORSEPOWER
available Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at WALLMART or TOWER RECORDS. It includes THE BUFFALO GRASS!

Why isn't this guy a star!!!
author: Clarence SellI just returned from Nashville where I saw Clay at Legends Corner and bought this CD. Man, what a terrific CD! His lonely guitar and harmonica perfectly complement his hauntingly clear soft voice. I can't help but wonder why this guy isn't a star!!!
It was love at first note
author: Anita WoodFrom the minute I walked in on Clay's performance in Nashville, I was hooked. Both the CD's are tops on my must hear list. It is evident that the songs on this CD are written from the heart. I love the stories they tell. In one word.........pristine. Just a man and his guitar.
Unique compositions of appealing musical melodies and honest lyrics
author: Sandy BowmanClay Canfield scored a "10" on his CD "The White House Session." His unique compositions and choices of appealing musical melodies and honest lyrics touch a multitude of emotions and sensibilities in the audience. Clay's integrity of performance, with his Gibson Montana J-150 guitar and harmonica, draws from his audience deep respect for his remarkable talents. Clay's perfected, vocal performance captivates his listeners with his deep Southern sound using playful vocal techniques. "The White House Session" songs explore, beautifully, an honest range of emotions and topics having wide appeal to many. Some of Clay's songs honor home, family, friends, happy times, and places. The songs' memorable music and lyrics also acknowledge human struggles with decisions, acceptance, love, stubbornness, loneliness, and remorse. Gently and beautifully, these lyrics prompt the audience to think about these matters. Additionally, these unforgettable songs recognize humankind's and the animal world's struggle with Nature's elements. They appeal to anyone who loves a walk in nature. It's a joy to listen to such beautiful songs about hard work and the yearning for changes in nature and in life. The crisp clarity in the production of the music on Clay Canfield's "The White House Session" is outstanding! His CD is the kind of which you will not tire! Keep up the Great compositions and performances, Clay!!! Sandy Bowman
Truly country
author: Jimmy ParkerWhen country music has taken a turn into pop and other names and leaves the traditionalist behind, it forces us to search for something that will remind us that COUONTRY MUSIC is still alive and well. "The White House Session" does just that. With the first song you hear, the quintessential "Over and Over" which was penned by Clay, you, the listener, are reminded that great country music still exists out there in a world filled with quasi-country. Clay, thank goodness, keeps it real and his roots in country music really shine on this cd. Buy it...you will be glad you did.
