In the stormy seas of rock'n'roll angst and apathy, a glimmer of light shines in the form of a breathy, young and sometimes quirky songstress named Jessi Canning. From the early age of eight, Jessi has been cultivating a sound and style that would best be described as introspective "sparkle-pop." From her childhood, Jessi has been surrounded by music that has exposed her to a wide range of influences, though now she finds herself drawn to artists such as Aimee Mann, Counting Crows, and Sam Phillips.
Now in 2004, Jessi has just released her EP "a little mint." Equipped with a brand new backing band, her eclectic stylings and perceptive lyrics, she hopes that with her compelling creativity, hard work, eternal hope, and honesty that her music will find common-ground with anyone who is fortunate enough to hear her.

The best music I have heard in a very long time.

In an era of seemingly endless fluff, Jessi Canning is indeed a breath of fresh air. She has an uncanny ability to convey emotion through her songs, from the lively opener Cider Night to the pensive World in Gray. It`s as if there was a direct connection from her heart to the music. Every track on A Little Mint is strong, filled with Canning`s rich, silky vocals. I can`t say enough good things about this CD-it is simply the best music I have heard in a very long time.
