Biography
CANOBLISS is a San Diego, CA based five-piece progressive hard rock/metal band originally founded in 1997 by Samson Pedroza and Chenzo Vidalez. After releasing the album Wicked Necessary in 1998, there were years of turbulent times and multiple lineup changes until the band added brothers Mike and Jon Russo in early 2004. The band released their second album Demon Angel later that year. Unsatisfied with their vocalist at the time, Canobliss began looking for a new front-man in early 2005. After an exhaustive search and hundreds of auditions from hopefuls all over the world, Canobliss added Johan Maldonado in the summer of 2006. His talent, versatility and range as a vocalist complimented Canobliss’ style and sound perfectly. With their newly found line-up, Canobliss independently released their full-length CD Liberation of Dissonance on July 21, 2007. Beginning in March '08 Canobliss launched a successful national college radio campaign to promote L.O.D., and hit the #1 slot at KSLU-1 (St. Louis, MO) and KSAU (Nacogdoches, TX) in addition to breaking the top 10 at several others. Already, Canobliss has recorded a brand new 7-song EP that was released on July 19, 2008. The EP, entitled Psychothermia, is the sophomore release for the existing lineup and the band feels that it is their strongest release to date. Canobliss is proud to have completely self-produced their last three albums from start to finish including all tracking, editing, mixing as well as layout and assembling of the artwork. However, despite many excellent reviews of their albums, it is their high energy live show that fans say keep them coming back for more. Over the past few years Canobliss has spread their name and music by playing dozens of live shows, handing out thousands of free demos, tagging up countless stickers, developing a strong online presence, receiving radio airplay across the country and creating a full line of merchandise. By exercising extensive promotion and the ability to market themselves, Canobliss has developed a broad and continuously growing fan base without compromising their musical integrity.

Canobliss has been played on over 150 radio stations and podcasts across the country (for a full list, please go to the band bio at www.canobliss.com). Worth a Good Listen, Fresh, But Some Issues
author: Dwal
Canobliss isn't Metallica. Turns out that's a good thing - this is some pretty fresh stuff you won't have heard before. I might describe it as unique, but then again a few friends I played it for labled it 'generic'. Of course, the conclusion I draw is that they don't know music from a pile of sh*t. Anyway, if you are skeptical, I would say the CD is worth a buy just for the last track 'Last Breath'. I should also say that the CD does not rely on one or two tracks to carry it and is solid decent music throughout. There are a few recording issues here and there, but I don't think anybody but an audiofile like myself would actually notice. At $10 Demon Angel is hard to beat in bang for your buck, and better then a lot of more well-known names. If you buy, do please make sure to listen to each song all the way through, as there are some really wicked bridges/riffs that tend to appear near the end of Canobliss's songs. A few gripes I have: 1.Not a fan of the art. I would call it cheap/cheesy, but then again, album art does not make the music. 2. Canobliss? Demon Angel? A little more originality, goddammit! 3. The lyrics are ocassionally forced and could use a little re-writing. I had a little trouble deciding if a few lines were supposed to be nonsensical or if they were just bad. Lyrics comes with time and it sounds like Canobliss wrote this whole album within an hour. Overall, I will probably buy this band's next album, and am glad I took a little gamble on this one. You will get more than $10 enjoyment from Demon Angel. Alright, I've already written way too much. Summary: Buy if you are bored with what's out there. Buy if you are bored with Metallica. Buy it before they sign with a major label and it costs you $18 to buy it.
