Album Notes

"Songs that would saturate radio in a just world," NEW LONDON DAY

"Intelligent pop/folk rock is never less than genial and engaging and often is more. In the case of "Face of Love"- animated by a chiming rhythm-guitar line- it might even move you beyond mere admiration and up onto your feet. Canty's acoustic-guitar-driven relationship songs owe much to the Wallflowers and David Gray.. Canty shows enough promise to suggest he'll grow into something quite arresting." BOSTON HERALD REVIEW

"NO ORDINARY LIFE should get Canty attention.. Full of radio friendly melodies.. a mellow mix of country-pop acoustic flourishes and light rock guitar, the songs are solid and enthusiastic while maintaining a simple bed on which Canty spreads his graceful, earnest baritone on highlights 'Can't Always Go Home' and 'I Don't Mind At All.. ready for airplay" PORTSMOUTH HERALD

Turner Network Television(TNT) has licensed "Can't Always Go Home" and "Soul" for promotional usage. "Soul" was used in promotion for the cable station's showing of Jerry Mcguire.

REVIEWS

No Ordinary Artist!
author: Pat Keating
A five star review is hard to come by, but so too is a great CD from an artist for whom success is overdue. According to Chris, this project took several attempts to find its current form. Though far from overproduced, perfectionism has paid off for Canty and roots rock fans, alike. A popular local artist in the Boston scene, Canty's blue-collar work ethic and heeful musings shine through with the intensity of a live performance. "Can't Always Go Home", a heartfelt reminder of infidelity’s cost, could keep more men at home than "Fatal Attraction." "Face of Love" has a driving beat and catchy guitar riffs. Its lyrics are as beguiling as they are introspective and well written. However, its best tracks are saved for almost the end. "Waiting on Love" is a haunting plea. Although its lyrics are dark, the track radio ready for fans of Springsteen, the Wallflowers, and Tom Petty. "Get Up, Get Out" is, by far, the most memorable cut. It's car commercial fun contrasts well against the disc's more somber reflections. With this stunning debut, Canty establishes himself as no ordinary artist. Don't be the last to own this extraordinary work by Boston's newest star.
