Formed in early 2003, Capitol Drive is an alternative rock band out of Milwaukee, WI. They got their start in basements and high school battles of bands (none of which they won).
The band consists of Mike Howard (guitar/vocals), Ben Glawe (guitar/vocals/harmonica, vocals), Dan Shafer (bass), and Alex Bunke (drums/vocals). Each member has a different musical background, and each brings his own unique musical tastes to the table.
Sure, sometimes they don't get along...but usually they are in good spirits and ready to rock. And sometimes conflict leads to inspiration.
In July of 2003, they recorded their first "album," entitled That Was Glorious. Recorded in one take in a lonely basement, the album showed a young band trying to find its sound one way or another.
A year later, they started to work on what would become their second album, and their first real attempt at a serious album. It took two long years, and now it is finally done.
Why I Brought You Here was recorded in Ben Glawe's basement, but this time with more advanced equipment and a more voracious attitude. The twelve songs showcase the diverse musical arsenal of the band, from the hardest rock to the gentlest whispers of acoustic guitar.
These songs are both accessible and delightful. There is something for everyone. Please give the sample tracks a listen!

Let me tell you something. The biz these days is full of dubious ne'r-do-wells with nothing to say and no way to say it. As a result, Capitol Drive did the music industry a friggin' service and cut this compact disk. The drums get your fingers snappin', that rum-ba-dum-bum-bass get's your heart pumpin', the guitar chunks along like a sock rockin' freight train with solos that send me apple-pie-high, and the vocals and harmonies even rival those of yours truely. And oh, that harmonica...it makes Goulet weak in the knees, and that says a lot. So do yourself a favor. Buy this thing. Shap do dooooogoulet.

The fact that there are so many different singers, instruments, and styles in this album keeps it constantly engaging and unique… unlike the last 3 CDs I bought in which I felt as though I was listening to the same track 15 times. It is obvious that the album was created with meticulous scrutiny, time and passion. No matter your style, this will appease…thumbs up.
