Album Notes

CAP- Born Nicholas Caparosa, is a Hip-Hop artist out of Bridgeport CT, by way of White Plains NY. CAP spent most of his childhood bearing witness to the harsh realities of poverty and misfortune in his neighborhood and among his peers. Like every other kid coming up in his area CAP was no doubt inspired by the emerging raw and pure sound of Hip-Hop music and the culture it bestowed. A driving factor to his musical aspirations may have derived as a youth; although he was always embraced and accepted being a white kid coming up in a predominately black school, CAP was often overlooked and denied of his talents to rap. It wasn’t until the flows he kicked in the ciphers started to depict the stories of those around him along with his personal struggles that gained him props and real respect for his lyrical abilities, but more importantly gave him a vision of being a voice through his words for those people who were just like himself.
In pursuit of a better life, CAP’s family moved to a prominently white suburb in Fairfield CT. Ironically and oddly enough, it was here that CAP didn’t seem to fit in. The serious-straight face kid from NY with his sideways hat and baggy clothes found no desire in adapting to his new surroundings and was often the subject of scrutiny among his peers for the simple fact that he was different. One thing that remained constant through these changing times was his love and passion for Hip-Hop. CAP rebelled against all as a teen, only accepting those who accepted him. His home life got complicated when his father abandoned the household forcing CAP’s mother to return to NY, and CAP to fend for himself. CAP calls Hip-Hop his savior during these dark times, as he moved across the way with some friends into the crime stricken city of Bridgeport CT; where to this day he still resides and calls home. Bridgeport- ‘Where Most Live Short’- CAP is the first to admit he had fallen victim to the street life and all it had to offer; only he didn’t see himself as a victim, He was just another product of his environment. The pain and struggle along with the hustling and bad habits were all a part of the lifestyle that CAP had become accustomed to.
With his continuing desire to still pursue music CAP hit the studio for the first time in 2004 forming a local group previously known as New Era Base. The group independently released a CD titled “Da New Era” which went on to sell and distribute 3,000 copies. The group quickly gained a buzz in the streets performing their songs at over 30 venues which transitioned to the mainstream and underground radio stations. Ultimately, the group split due to creative differences and CAP went on to continue performing at various independent shows including opening up for acts such as Guru from Gangstarr, Ne-Yo, Juelz Santana, Lumidee, and Yung Joc.

In 2006, CAP dropped a solo mixtape titled “It’s Nuffin’ Like Dat” which showcased his creativity and skills with a wide range of street bangers and party joints that gained him numerous interviews, write-ups, and recognition in the media as a solo artist including 06’ Fairfield County’s Best Hip-Hop/Rap Artist.
Today, CAP continues with even more ambition, growth and passion for his music. Recently, he had the great honor of opening up for the legendary Rakim; promoting his innovated slogan/movement “Just Be You” and performing songs from his new independently released solo EP “The CAP Chronicles” which reflects his best work to date and holds a compassionate message to the listener, while still remaining street credible with a positive twist. CAP envisions his music and message to be a driving force in Hip-Hop and to others, to encourage everyone to be true to themselves instead of trying to conform to what people want you to be, or constantly worrying about the social pressures and expectations society puts on us. Take control of your individuality and “JUST BE YOU”

A new look, a new flow, a new mindset and a new message is what CAP anticipates for the 2009 and beyond… “Whatever You Do.. JUST BE YOU”
