Album Notes

Captain Magik's recently released album “On the Edge” takes him back to his hip hop roots with a hard-hitting edge. While staying true to his thought-provoking style, this album includes thought-provoking tracks along with crunked up party hits. Magik released his "Young, Gay and Proud" album in 2008. His first music video for the single Dilemma, aired regularly on national television on MTV’s Logo channel “Click List: Top Ten Videos.” The video was voted the number one video of 2008 on Logo. The album received rave reviews from across the US and he was featured in Spin Magazine, Instinct Magazine, the LA Times and the Plain Dealer. He has performed at Toronto Pride and as part of “Street Cred 101,” a live theatre piece about gay hip hop, at the Highways Performance Gallery in Los Angeles. Magik is a proud recipient of a 2010 Creative Workforce Fellowship. The Creative Workforce Fellowship is a program of Cleveland's Community Partnership for Arts and Culture, generously funded by Cuyahoga Arts and Culture. Prior to his foray into gay hip hop, he performed with the group 4XWasted.
