On one Saturday afternoon, Captain Starr planned for a day of recording four of their favourite original songs. What seemed like a perfect day for recording turned into a technical disaster, as the equipment repeatedly failed to record any audio. After more than 12 hours of troubleshooting various computer and soundcard issues at the studio, an old-school (and long retired) soundcard was brought as a last ditch effort to make use of the day. A sound check revealed that is was recording audio, generating a second wind for the members of the band. It did just that, and beautifully captured the foundation for the EP.

It was later found out that the original soundcard had been fried by “Hot Plugging” it (plugging it in while the computer was on). However, the members of Captain Starr believe that it got fried due to the sheer funk being picked up by the microphones. Either way, “Hot Plugged” could not be a more appropriate name for this EP.

The result is Captain Starr’s hardest-hitting material yet. From the syncopated rhythm of “Short Top”, to the funked out jingle “Hubcaps”, the band continues to deliver a original blend of Rock and Funk. Get Hot Plugged today!
