(About MP3 downloads at CD Baby)

A down home country album written and sung in the old fashioned way, very much like that of Johnny Cash.

notes

With his deep baratone reminiscent of Johnny Cash, this singer/songwriter lays down performances of old-style solo country based grooves on at least half of the selections on this 26 track cd. the other songs (non country) are from very early recordings of capt, meats catalog, 1963 to be exact. Some of the recordings were lost for many years but luckily they were found and preserved. This cd , no doubt will became one of those 'rare' cds and heaven only knows what the value of this cd will be in the near future.Capt.Meat (a.k.a.) Vance Johnson is from missouri and currently runs and operates his music publishing business (vanhorse music publishing) and sunboy records,
he is a member of ascap. You can contact him through his agent online at ; nick_preston@sbcglobal.net
The price of this cd can not be lowered because of its
rarity. BUT, you can download any track for less than a dollar (u.s.currency) we know youll want to download : ' RIDE MY PONY' so go for it . " ride my pony ' has been a great big selling single download track from this album as well as from the ;"JUST A WHITE BOY" album which also includes 'RIDE MY PONY'.Before i conclude here , i want to invite you to listen to 'DONT SAY GOODBYE' sung by Skeeter
Davis in the early 60s ,an unreleased recording- a - rough, -one-take reel to reel recording . Very rare , and you will not find this recording anyplace but right here .

I used to listen to CaptMeat some years ago at WASHINGTON PARK evey sunday along with some of the greats such as bob dylan , richie haven , peter, paul and mary just to name a few . this album truly does take me back to simpler times . thanks capt.meat

  • I really dig this album!!!

A good, Johnny Cash sound but with original songs, which is really neat because it's like hearing Johnny singing songs you've never heard before. Lots of variety. The latter part of the album shows the artist's versatility but he stays true to himself. A great deal for all these tracks!!!

  • about time someone made a good old fashion sounding record
    author: kenny c.

yup, this guy does sound a heck of a lot like my man johnny cash. its about time someone made a record like this without all the fake bells and whistles. most of this album is pure country and changes to an early sounding dylan material which , i also love. in fact, johnny cash and bob dylan are my heros.this album is great original material. kenny , nashville. tn

  • starts off great slowly burns out
    author: jason

this cd starts out as if this man felt the spirit of johnny cash inside of him. this works for the first 17 tracks or so then it seems as if a completely different person started recording songs. i could live with those 17 tracks as the album and been extemely happy. but, that isn't the case and the end of the album left a bitter taste. i do still recommend this cd because most of the album is that good. should be a favorite for anyone that likes good old traditional country and honky tonkin' music. for fans of johnny cash, hank williams sr. and hank williams III ( not jr. in my opinion),merle haggard, and all the rest of the country staples. also,if you like an old so-so bob dylan-esque style the second part of the album may appeal to you.
