*** Only 10 available of the Japanese release of "NOW" -- for a limited time here on CD Baby! ***
Music from the third album "NOW" by Cara Jones has been heard on the hit series "DAWSON'S CREEK", independent films and, most recently, in-store displays for Samsung's Blu-ray player at your local BEST BUY!
The voice of Cara Jones is well known outside of the US, particularly in Japan. Cara was born in Philadelphia and studied Japanese at Harvard, moving to Tokyo after college. There she released three albums: Different Skies, Pandora's Box, and NOW, which has garnered international attention.
Her spoken voice has been heard on the GPS car navigation systems for the Jaguar ("make a left turn at the light"), models of the Mercedes Benz, the Land Rover, Ford, Lincoln, and Cadillac! She has played or sung roles in popular Playstation and Sega games, and you heard her announce the winners at the award ceremonies of the 1998 Winter Olympics!
Recorded in Philadelphia with Michael Aharon and John Anthony (Solas, Brothers McMullen), Cara's third album "NOW" is the first one available worldwide. The music has been described as running the gamut from Dido or Sarah McLachlan to Michelle Branch and Jewel in its production, while her voice is "refined, crystalline and has a unique tenderness, perhaps akin to Kate Bush. ...Instrumentals blend electric guitar, keyboards, bass and crisp percussion with sensual lead vocal and extensively layered pop-oriented vocal, certain to please a broad range of female vocal enthusiasts." (Musical Discoveries)
Producer Tony Visconti (whose favorite song is "Heaven's Waiting") has said about the new album: "Cara's music is not only a breath of fresh air, it is fresh air. She writes from the heart, she expresses her deepest feelings in voice that borders on vulnerable -- but I'm not fooled -- she's powerful. Her music conveys strong feelings, strong messages, gossamer textures and delivers forty-five minutes of sheer pleasure on this CD. How many artists can deliver that these days?"
The long-lost debut album by Cara Jones, entitled "Different Skies", and released in Japan in 1994, is now available exclusively on CD Baby. Click on the link to the left - Different Skies highlighted in yellow - or go to: cdbaby.com/carajones2

"Now" is a gem!
author: G-man
Dark, deep, pretty, and full of deceptively soft whirlpools of emotion, the songs of Cara Jones sneak out of her CD, "Now" and engulf you. "Settle for Love" is a combination of slow rock and chill-jazz that concludes 11 tracks that have the ability to leave you limp and dazed from their beauty and intensity. Magnificently produced by Michael Aharon, "Now" is a gem.

Sweet vocals
author: Charlie
Though the music wasn´t quite what I expected, I gladly give it five stars. I thought the songs would be a bit more grown-up and less pop. I am really no fan of popmusic but these songs are kind of cute. Maybe it is Cara´s sweet voice that won me over, I don´t know, but she´s got a new fan in Germany NOW. I love "Heaven´s Waiting" - it is almost too sweet, but just almost. And "Better Safe Than Sorry" is so catchy - it comes to my mind every day. Thanks for this new brand of pop, Cara!
