Album Notes

In March of 2011, the staff and students at Carden Cascade Academy were introduced to the ‘Kids 4 Congo’s Kids’ organization, an organization whose vision is to create change and connect cultures through education. Their mission statement is simple. ‘Children no matter where they are born deserve an education so that their lives are filled with possibilities.’ Every child has the right to education and we have the right to do something about it.

As we took our first steps toward helping the children of the Congo, we had no idea of the journey we were about to take, or where that journey would lead. A five-gallon jar was stationed at school with a label that read ‘Pennies From Heaven’ and it wasn’t long after, that the pennies began to fall. The first steps toward making a difference had been taken, and the hope of creating change was now a reality.

As we thought of ways to raise money and awareness, a song was inspired and written through which we could deliver our message of hope. Making a difference in the world today is difficult, as words spoken often fall on deaf ears and actions on blind eyes. Music, however, is a language understood by all. Hans Christian Anderson said, ‘Where words fail, music speaks,’ and it is our hope that the words of this song will speak to the hearts of those who hear it and together we can make a difference.
