Album Notes

Born and raised in north central New Jersey, singer/trombonist Gerard Carelli is an alumnus of the North Texas State University 1:00 Lab Band.

He toured the world playing trombone for Ray Charles, before moving to New York City.

There he began playing Latin gigs with Manny Oquendo's Con Junto Libre featuring Dave Valentine and with Hector Lavoe and Ray Barretto.

Gerard has played for many Broadway shows including Cats, Starlight Express, Jerome Robbins' Broadway and 42nd Street.

He has also played for singers Rosemary Clooney, Vic Damone, Johnny Mathis and Mel Torme.

Gerard has played Eighty Eight's, Judy's and Danny's in Manhattan.

His show of the music of Bobby Darin resulted in a successful seven-week engagement at Michael's Pub.

This spring, he will perform four nights at the Firebird Café celebrating the release of his second album Lucky to Be Me.

Critics say his lyrical trombone and smooth vocal style "evoke images of Tommy Dorsey and Frank Sinatra rolled into one." Composers Cy Coleman and Matt Dennis raved about Gerard's first CD, Beautiful Dancer.

It received air play on over 200 radio stations.

His latest CD features pianist/arranger John Oddo, bassist Jay Leonhart, trumpeter Randy Sandke and saxophonist Dan Block.

Also look for Gerard on The One O'clock Lab Band's Best of The One O'clock, Charlie Persip's, Original Superband, Jean Loup Longnon's NY Big Band and Paul Nash's Impression featuring Frank Wess, Johnny Coles, Candido and Tom Harrell.
