notes

What do you get when you take a dash of blues, rock-edged pop, and pop-influenced contemporary folk?  You get Carey Colvin's effervescent concoction of songs about the human character and emotions. When David Crosby (Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young) first heard Wammie-award winner Carey Colvin's music, he said, "Definitely give up your day job!" Her much-anticipated debut album, The Distance Wall, features her award-winning songs and guest artists include John Jennings (Mary Chapin Carpenter) and Tom Prasada-Rao.

What people have been saying about Carey and The Distance Wall:

"Buyers of The Distance Wall will be able to say they knew her before she knocked Faith Hill off the charts."
-Dirty Linen Magazine

"Forsaking spiffy studio effects in favor of rootsy rock and real instruments, Colvin fashions an album Lucinda Williams would [be] proud of. Simply put, she can hit a note without batting an eye, something nine tenths of the coffee shop set would sell their tambourines for."
Splendid Magazine

"Carey's voice is as bright and clear as a ringing bell. Her enthusiastic approach to music is quite evident in each song...she is destined for bigger things."
-Dan Alloway, Folk Fury, KTEP-FM 88.5, El Paso, TX

"Colvin has fashioned a series of thoughtful, tuneful songs that invite repeat spins."
-Mike Joyce, The Washington Post

  • Do yourself a favor-GET THIS CD.

Somewhere between Nanci Griffith and Joni Mitchell lies the genre of a beautiful voice and thoughtful lyrics. Carey Colvin lives there. Unique, yet immediately comfortable and familiar, she touches one softly, yet deeply with her music.

  • Love it!

This CD is out of my general genre, but I can't say enough good things about it. :) Sometimes it's good to break out of your norm and experience something totally different. Carey writes with a passion that comes thru the speakers and just grabs you! Enjoy...I did!

  • Wonderfully talented woman, absolutely love this music!
