"Hot Steel" presents popular songs done in an island style. From Reggae to Soca, Calypso and Pop, this album is perfect for any occasion. Caribbean Steel was founded by band leader/Steel Drummer/Percussionist, Nico Gutierrez. Nico G. was born in N.Y.C. to Wayne Gutierrez, a professional show drummer and has been playing drumset since he was 9 yrs old. His passion for world music has led him to study Afro-Cuban Percussion including Folklore and Popular Rhythms as well as Brazilian and West African Styles of Drumming. Nico G. has studied percussion with Regino Jimenez, Michael Spiro, Mark Lamson, Poncho Sanchez, and Francisco Aguabella. Nico currently studies the steel drum with Tom Gates, Patrick J.Burke and Harris Todman. You can check out Nico and Caribbean Steel in Fabulous Las Vegas, NV.

Dear Caribbean Steel, I just finished playing the CD's you mailed me. I'm sold!!!!. I enjoy the Up-Tempo songs on "Hot Steel" but I also like the more traditional song's on "Smooth Steel" because it reminds me of my son who played in the Steel Drum Band in college.
