ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
I have been performing for over 30 years; began writing songs in 1973. In 1978 I began composing instrumental selections with an interest in writing music for films, which I began doing a few years later. I composed the music scores for several video productions - most notably, Together in Faith, which won a 1994 Gabriel Award, and was nominated for a regional Emmy Award. In 1996, I produced a CD of original compositions entitled, "Moon On the Lake". The CD also contains two songs, for which I wrote the lyrics as well. I have been a music minister for over 16 years, and have performed music for hundreds of weddings – (either for ceremonies and/or dinner music for receptions). I have also entertained at a number of country clubs, convention centers, etc. and even participated in a benefit concert held outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, along with my sisters Paula & Cheri. On October 24th of 2003, I performed at the renowned Sheldon Concert Hall in St. Louis, around the corner from the fabulous Fox Theatre, making my concert debut. Another concert is tentatively scheduled for June 28th, 2008.

Truly Wonderful
For those of you with a short attention span, I'll cut straight to the chase: put simply, this is a wonderful collection that you should NOT be without! It begins with the beautifully lyrical "Sante" - a Donaggio-esque theme I would love to hear performed by a full orchestra - and then continues on through a series of sometimes plaintive ("In Memory of Toto"), sometimes sweet ("Marianna") but always emotion-stirring ("The Violinist") compositions. However, the really stand-out track for me is probably the atmospherically evocative "A Voice in the Wilderness."
Carl has what can only be described as musical sleight-of-hand. On the surface, his themes appear to be of simple construction. But this seeming simplicity masks a much greater complexity. As a writer with sixty-some published books to his credit, I flatter myself to think that I understand the true value of a beautifully-constructed sentence. Carl has this same understanding of music. There's not one jarring note in the entire album. Everything is just where it needs to be, and just AS it needs to be.
Is this a feel-good CD? Yes. Should you order it immediately? Yes. Will you be glad you did? Three out of three - yes!
