A Native to rural southwest Michigan, and the nearby Lake Michigan shores, Carl started playing guitar at age ten and in his following years studied classical guitar. Before graduating High school Carl played weddings, summer fairs, and night clubs. With almost ten years of guitar, Carl went professional as lead guitarist in several pop musical groups. In 1992 Carl was introduced to Celtic music and the Irish folk harp. With a class on dulcimer building and a combination of natural musical skills and carpentry abilities, the next step was to build and play a variety of acoustical stringed instruments, including the harp, guitar, psaltry and both mountain and hammered dulcimers. Teaming up with vocalist Judy Sutton, he released his first CD "Faithful Endeavors" in 2000; in 2003 Carl was joined by Sally Ceresko in the release of "Frosty Morning."
Carl has successfully performed at art fairs, festivals, fine restaurants, corporate events, and several live appearances on WVPE FM 88.1 "The Back Porch" program in Elkhart, Indiana. Since 1996, Carl has been building and selling musical instruments with a complete inventory sell-out during the summer of 2003.
Multi-Instrumental Show
Carl combines over 25 years of experience performing a variety of instruments and music genres into one amazing show. The audience will first notice that many of his instruments are mounted on stands. This artistic display of his acoustic and bass guitars, Celtic harp mountain dulcimer, electric guitar and djembe drum allows Carl to effortlessly transition from one instrument to another. His mastery of live recording allows him to layer one instrument upon another until as many as five instruments are heard at once. To make the show even more interesting, the harp, electric guitar and dulcimer were built by Carl.
