Songs including the bluesy rock "Wait So Long" and "Opportunity" to the sultry "Treat You Better" give a glimpse into the depth of this provocative singer. She will be debuting her EP Release at the legendary 3rd and Lindsley in Nashville on June 26th at 7 p.m.
Taken from recent interview:
Describe your music.
Carly - I think my music is sort of like the love child between garage, blues, and this world beat rock opera flashdance style metal jam. It's unique. My friends like it and their parents like it too, which I think it seriously cool. Most people don't care about more than one generation at a time with their music but I think it's a huge compliment that it's reached out to different demographics.
Why did you want to become an artist?
Carly - It was never a conscious choice. My parents played in a band together when they were young, and my brothers followed suit. Our house was a constant jam session. I remember my mom and her sister pulling out the guitar and singing "Me and Bobby McGee" together and I was basically starstruck. I wanted to be like my big brothers, who were in punk bands. I wanted to be like my dad, who played the blues like you've never heard. My mom just rocked. Every single one of my closest influences showed me what a reward music is, and I never thought I'd do anything different.
You said you recently went to Disney World. if you were a disney character...who would you be and why?
Carly - I'd be Ariel because I love to style my hair with a fork.
Favorite flavor ice cream?
Carly - Ben and Jerry's Phish Food. All day. Every break up. Often for breakfast. Basically. I'm useless in a relationship because I can basically be controlled by snacks. I will stop a fight for frozen yogurt. You can't buy my love, but you can totally buy my silence.
Describe yourself in 5 words or less.
Carly - Intuitive. Affectionate. Sensitive....
Innie or outie?
Carly - Innie since Day 1, baby!
Boxers or briefs?
Carly - Briefs! I don't know how comfortable they are for guys, but they look spectacular.
Which Hollywood actress do you identify with?
Carly - Audrey Hepburn first comes to mind. She was a special kind of sexy. Not in a revealing, let-my-boobies-hang-out fashion, but a mysterious and classy way. It seems like she never gave out too much, but she was also an open and caring woman. I think there's a lot to be said for a woman who can be both strong and gentle at the same time.
What's your favorite food?
Carly - Give me a minute...This one is hard.
I'm afraid I'll discriminate against my favorite foods by choosing one. If I say mac and cheese, then waffles might get their feelings hurt. But if chocolate counts then I choose chocolate.
NO FRENCH TOAST
Definitely french toast.
Are you writing this down?
Absolutely....if you could be a vampire or zombie...which?
Carly - A vampire, no doubt. First of all, I wouldn't stand a chance as a zombie. The entire world is anxiously waiting for the first zombie virus outbreak cause everyone has seen all the movies how to handle it. It looks like too much fun to kill a zombie. I'd be annihilated. I wouldnt be a sparkly vampire though. I want fangs and a cape.
Favorite Johnny Depp character....edward scissorhands, captain jack, mad hatter, don juan, or tonto?
Carly - All of them, at once.
Whichever is most available.
You're on a desert island, 3 things wash up on shore...what would you like them to be?
Carly - Johnny Depp, rum...hahaha.
Just kidding, probably a boat. I'd like a boat to wash up. I sunburn easily. Maybe a boat and some sunscreen.
What do you think about when you're driving your car?
Carly - I love my car!
What's that noise?
Should I pull over?
Is my engine smoking?
I hate my car.
Pick two celebrities to be your parents.
Carly - ELLEN AND PORTIA. I decided this a long time ago.
