Enjoy the smooth vocals and lo-fi feel of this unique first offering by Doug Carman.
It's full of acoustic driven songs with a real pop feel about everything from love to sewer explosions to the Trail of Tears.
Appreciative of the field recordings made by Alan Lomax years ago, this recording is based on the idea that today, with our access to recording technology, writers and performers are essentially making their own field recordings.
In other words, regardless of musical genre, all music is in a sense folk music.

Listen to it!

FIELD RECORDING is a great mixture of acoustic and folk music that has a lot of emotion and feeling. I love how Doug Carman plays all of the instruments on this CD, and I especially love Doug's lyrics. This is a great CD; I recommend it to everyone!

Doug Carman: Field Recording
author: Blake Hensley
This is a really easy listen. If you pay attention to lyrics, you'll discover the natural ease of his writing style. As a lead guitarist playing behind other artist Doug can rock. Cool song ideas.

Five Star Recommendation
author: Lee Wilson
I really like this CD. It's unusual in that not only did the artist write every song, he also played every instrument and sang every note. Not often do you find so much talent wrapped up in one package. All 12 songs are unique; no two sound alike. This shows lots of depth and I, for one, can't wait for his next release.

It's About Time
author: Bill Lloyd
I personally know this fellow and have been waiting for a solo release of his songs and performances for 20 years or so. Recorded at home (indoors, I think..), Doug Carman has finally documented a slew of his own compositions, playing and singing the lot of them. Expect sure fire melodic catchiness, a willingness to tackle anything lyrically and a vocal delivery that's smooth and sincere. He refers to it as folk music, but besides the prominence of acoustic guitars, the musical touchstones that I hear cover a lot of ground from The Beatles to Southern California singer-songwriter pop. He's a musical veteran without a backlog of albums to show for it but I'm very glad this one is out there for the peoples to hear!
