Album Notes
Carne Asada are the stars of the indie documentary PUNK LIKE ME. The movie reveals all the dirt on the world's greatest punk rock mariachi band. Covering their entire history from inception, through their national (and very drunken) Warped Tour run, to today, the film premiered at the 2006 SXSW Film Fest in Austin to rave reviews and enthusiastic crowds. The album is "Full Contact Mariachi", featuring 13 tracks of relentless, straight-outta-Tijuana mariachi-punk. Proving that they are not simply culture vultures, Carne Asada features an actual Mexican (Dirty Sanchez) on guitar and vocals. The rest of the band are: Rico Suave (lead vocals, maracas, accordion), El Matador (bass, sombreros), The Ugly American (lead guitar, shades), and Chupacabra (drums, ultra-violence).
This bandwagon is primed and ready to be hopped on!

El Mariachi goes Angry Samoans
Well, first I thought about the Singer - reminds me of Angry Samoans or Dayglow Abortions. but it combines this kind of Punk with a mexician, mariachi style. So if you are looking for something interesting and probably new take an ear at this cd. could be the new future.

LOVE IT!
I just got the cd today, and I have already listened to it a couple times. I love it. The music reminds me of the Vandals, and the singer's voice brings Fat Mike of NOFX to mind. It's all this with a Mexican twist, and it's fabulous!

Sweet Sound, Hilarious Lyrics
This album is the most creative piece of work I've ever heard. Catchy Mariachi tunes re-done with some rock thrown in makes a funny yet catchy sounding album. Isn't quite the same unless you see the movie though ("Punk Like Me", go watch at the SXSW festival). As one brilliant man realized, hey, everybody loves mariachi music.

Mexican flavoured chaos
There is no shortage of genre jumpers in the modern music industry. Now that Celtic punk has had its day, LA’s Carne Asada are looking south for inspiration —blending punk with mariachi music. It is brilliant and hilarious. Sounding like the Ramones getting blasted on tequila in a Tijuana cantina with the Angry Samoans, Carne Asada’s unique blend of punxican music entails blending a ferocious chordal assault with a twisted sense of humour. And for a band that claims “We’re not a real band”, they sure play tightly, seamlessly mixing everything from punk to Chili Pepper’s funk, to 50’s pop and of course, mariachi music. We’re Not A Real Band suddenly breaks into the Mexican Hat Dance, then crashes back into the chorus. La Cucaracha gets new lyrics slamming big box stores. Their ode to aging, Geezer Crew muses, “one day we’ll all have skin just like a tree.” There are several other Mexican themed songs, and an ode to Star Trek’s Wesley Crusher. Full Contact Mariachi ends with the brilliant Lou the Butcher which has some of the best meat related double entendres I have heard. Check out Carne Asada and catch the next big wave.
