Carnes & The Heaters probably could best be described as a variety/blues band . Their repertoire includes soul, rock, ballads, standards and of course BLUES. Their versatility is a unique ability to mix music from different genres and timeframes into expressions that are both contemporary and timeless. And their fans and followers love it.
The Heaters, a popular group that specializes in blues music, is made up of six musicians with over 160 total years of musical experience.
Carnes McCormack put this group together after years of searching for "just the right mix". A vocalist and keyboard player, McCormack moved to the Arkansas Ozarks in 1995 and ran into a brick wall looking for blues players. He met Tim Hobbs, a local bass player, and the two became fast friends. Tim's versatility as a bassist impressed McCormack and they started playing together often. McCormack had known and heard Kent and Beci Coffey. Talking with Kent one day he found that Coffey had a love for blues music also. The two started discussing putting together a band with emphasis on blues. Sitting on the back burner for a few years the band never formed. But in 2003 Kent, Carnes and Tim got serious about putting a group together and performing . Mark Stoops, the drummer, was hired to lay down the solid rhythm. Something was still missing in the makeup of the group until Byron Shipman came on board with his "bag" of harmonicas. He completed the sound that was sought and the HEATERS was born.
The first time McCormack heard Beci Coffey sing he knew that she couldn't be beat as a vocalist and says he will still put her up against any female vocalist he has heard. From Etta James to Bonnie Raitt she has them covered. Carnes' smokey, graveley voice has been described as homemade whiskey served in a dirty ashtray.
Let the good times roll with The Heaters and THANKS!!!!!
