Gospel Recording Artist, Carol Calloway has a new release entitled 'Send The Comforter.' Carol accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at the age of 12 and was baptized in Bridgeton, New Jersey at the St. Phillip's Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Willie N. Hargrove. As a teenager, Carol sang every summer in the Youth Campaign For Christ Community Choir; a 300 voice choir of young people founded by her hometown church, Union Baptist Temple of Bridgeton, NJ. Many young people received Christ as their personal Savior during this campaign.
In the late 1980's, the Lord blessed her to become a singer and director with the Southern Regional Gospel Choir under the direction of the late Tyrone Caldwell who was also the director of Rev. Ernest Davis Jr.'s Wilmington Chester Mass Choir. The Southern Regional Gospel Choir has appeared frequently on the TV-40 television network for the Sandra's Sunrise Gospel Hour in Atlantic City, NJ.
In 1992, the Lord led her to the Tri-State Mass Choir of the Edwin Hawkins Music and Arts Seminar, Inc. The Tri-State Mass Choir has been blessed to have their 5th live recording in May 2001 with their producer, The Godfather of Gospel Music, Edwin Hawkins. Singing with Tri-State has opened many doors and has afforded her many opportunities including background singing for Gospel Recording Artists such as The Queen of Gospel, Albertina Walker, Dorothy Norwood, Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin, Dr. Bobby Jones and Betty Griffin-Keller to name a few.
After settling in Harrisburg, PA, Carol immediately got involved with community outreach programs. She was a board member for the New Hamilton Community Development Corp., and served as youth director for Youth Caring For The Community. Carol is also the Founder and Business Manager of the Youth Crusaders For Christ Mass Choir; a youth community choir with young people ages 10-25 from various churches in Harrisburg and surrounding areas. For her involvement in both the Gospel Music Industry and the Harrisburg Community, she was awarded the Gospel Singer of the Year Award for the City of Harrisburg in April, 2001.
Look for Carol's new single entitled, 'United' on July 4th, 2004 written by Marlon Walker and Produced by (CD Baby Artist) Johnny J. Blair.
