Mommy, There’s A Puppy In My Soup is a delightful collection of songs that touch the hearts of children and adults. The songs are playful and creative, and range from soothing to gently energetic. It’s easy for the children to dance or sing along. Cleverly intertwined in the child’s world of imagination and their love for stuffed animals are sweet reminders to come back to being loving with your family and the world around you.

Relating to experiences at their level, Mommy, There’s A Puppy In My Soup(title song) is about the imagination of a little one who doesn’t want to eat dinner. Teddy Bear Tune is filled with images of teddy bears dancing and skipping on New Year’s Eve. I’ll Bundle You Up is about a loving child who wants to bring most of his/her stuffed animals on the walk (“I’m going to take my little white horse. Leave him behind? No, I’ll take him, of course!”). Grandpa’s Farm is about Grandpa’s unusual animal friends. (“My Grandpa’s friends are silly! I love them best that way!”) Teddy Bears Love Whatever They Do is about the happy teddy bear who does what he loves, and loves what he does (“The happiest Teddy Bears I ever knew, are loving whatever they happen to do.”) The opening verse of Just Like You sings: “Give your love to your mother and tell her you love her, give your love to daddy too. Even grownups need to be loved.” The chorus sings: “Everybody needs love just like you!”

The delightful musical arrangements and instrumentation are done by the very talented Larry Hoppen of the group Orleans, making the musical accompaniment intelligent and easy for the adults to listen to. Burr Johnson is a jazz guitarist who adds his musical arrangement of Just Like You .

Familiar songs included in the collection are: 6 Little Ducks, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, Kookaburra, and My Hat It Has 3 Corners (with hand motions). The CD ends with 3 gentle songs with comforting words and melodies, if your child wants to listen to the CD at bedtime.

A portion of all proceeds goes to support indigenous children in Ecuador.
