”Moon's style is a low, breathy, assured and beautifully articulated intimacy” Graham Reid
'faultless, beautiful stuff' Winston Watusi, The Weekend Sun
The Carolina Moon Jazz Group plays fresh, modern arrangements of a range of material which includes the American Songbook to contemporary jazz repertoire with a dash of French and Spanish flavours.
A native UK-er, Caroline Lynn (Carolina Moon) first began singing on the London jazz scene of the early 90s. Moving to Australia, she met her now-partner, New Zealand's superb saxophonist Roger Manins. East of the Sun is their first release together, and is an album rich in textures - Caroline sings with a softness and clarity which is beautifully entwined by the fullness of Manins’ saxophone as if in intimate conversation. The musicianship on this recording is outstanding and Caroline shows her ability to interpret some exceptional contemporary material with some classic love songs and French chanson in a way that is at once fresh, musical and modern.

This is the BEST jazz ensemble release of 2007 !!!!
author: Dr. Mark A. Goral
As a former jazz vocalist for seven years, I cannot begin to tell all of you how EXCEPTIONAL this recording is. There is not enough to brag about with this project. Caroline Lynn's vocals are so untouchably raw and pure and her voice is one of the most suave to yet hit the U.S. jazz scene. The musicians on this specific work are beyond compare! Kevin Field on piano, Nigel Gavin on guitar, Roger Manins on tenor sax, Olivier Holland on stand-up bass, Chris O'Connor on drums, and the prolific Herschal on accordion are some of the VERY BEST anyone could ever hope to hear. The variety, scope and breadth that this CD reveals could only come from the most rigorous work imaginable. For jazz purists, this CD is absolute heaven. For all others, promise me that you'll listen fully to each and every song and you will know in your heart what I mean. C'est magnifique !!!
