Album Notes

Carolina Still is an acoustic band with a new sound and an old time feel. They will take you down on the farm, out into the tobacco fields, down a dirt road with a trunk full of shine; you never know where they might take you. One thing’s for sure you will be schooled in southern American culture after listening to their music. They blend such music styles as old time, bluegrass, country, blues, rockabilly, punk, and many more. Their sound is deeply rooted in traditional music but is delivered with a more progressive edge and a great amount of energy.

Carolina Still is made up of a group of very diverse musicians. J. Alan Casey is on vocals, banjo, and guitar. Brad Jackson on vocals, guitar, and harmonica. Alex Ball on fiddle and Billy Smith on vocals, and drums.

Carolina Still is primarily a self-sufficient operation: most of the promotion, artwork, videos, and even the recording is handled by the band itself. Carolina Still has built a solid fan base around eastern North Carolina, performing everywhere from coffee houses to Irish pubs, and from street festivals to weddings. Their live shows are full of energy, more akin to a rock act than an acoustic band. Carolina Still is always working hard on writing new songs, learning traditional ones, and adding their own style to all of them.
