The Carolines "Meet Me At The Marriot" is a 3-song peek into their upcoming third full-length release.
The band continues their quest to carve out a unique concept today; to sound like, well, themselves. In the opening track "Ooh Ooh Satisfied," they paint a great sunny melody perfect for the upcoming summer. With chunky riffs, those infectious "ooh ooh oohs," and that passionate scream at the end, The Carolines show they are indeed satisfied with not sounding like anyone but, themselves.
"Too Late" punches right in with the chorus before settling into the melancholy of the first verse. Aaron Trueb's delivery lulls the listener into what appears to be a love song until they realize he is singing about the ending of a relationship. An audio version of the proverbial sugarcoated bitter pill.
Track three, "Good For Me," finds The Carolines opening things up a bit, much like their live shows. There's just enough space for each of the five talented musicians to showcase without showing off. And that ends up being good for all of us.

This is cool music!

I like this CD a lot. It sounds like the Rembrants on acid. Equal parts of rock, Nirvana and the Beatles are definitely evident. Nice guitar sound and cool vocals. Also check out Richard X. Heyman and the Jangles sold here at Cd Baby.

" What the hell is in the water in the Portland area? First The Superficials, then Geoff Byrd, and then here comes The Carolines! Awesome chord changes that stray from your normal fair just seem to work, and lead singer Aaron Trueb sounds like a young Nick Gilder with the growl of Robin Zander. This is one of the most killer tracks to come across this desk in a long long time, and this 3 song EP just wets the appetite for more from The Carolines. One big HELL YEAH!"

Hot, intense, timeless rock.

Ooh, Ooh, Satisfied grabs you by the ears, feet, gut and doesn't let go. From this powerful beginning to the end, the flavor reminds this listener of familiar music from the Sixties and Seventies, but it's genuine originality, clever arrangement, coy lyrics, fat chords and DRIVE belong in any era. This is a band with all the promise they could ever dream of.
