Album Notes

Caroline's solo material is adult popular, melodic folk-rock and is similar in style to bands like Fleetwood Mac, Tori Amos, Pooka, Folk Implosion, October Project, Siouxie Sioux, and Bat for Lashes, if you mixed them together, added a touch of gothic harmonies ala Cocteau Twins and shook until well-blended. Caroline has a distinctive, smooth, lush, and resonant voice with a dynamic range. Her music is a smart and eclectic blend of pop, folk, and rock, with gothic, ethereal elements in many of her interesting and unexpected harmonies. Her ability to see the world in colourful ways is clear to anyone who listens to her interesting lyrics and melodies. Caroline won The Great Canadian Talent Search, sponsored by Canadian Musician Magazine with her song, 'Hey Gemini', which is the lead track on the 'hello EP'. She also won Live Performance of the Year at the 2006 Island Music Awards.

"Great songs, well recorded, well performed, and not what you usually hear on the radio, but just as catchy and accessible. This is new and cool and will be the next music everyone is listening to, as it captures both the imagination and the heart, while you can respect the honest emotional expression and the craft. All the songs are interesting moments unto themselves, reflecting a prismatic and charismatic performer with many unique and important things to say." - Danica Nolan, Indiemark

"Definite ear candy... " - Tim MacAleese, Canadian Rawk Network

I downloaded your mp3s and I love your songs! I play them all the time. I love how they are moody and beautiful and I can listen to them over and over and never get bored. Yeah, I listened with lights off and candles! Amazing!

Eclectic mix of creative, poetic progressive pop rock
author: Sarah F.
This is an interesting EP with an interesting back story. It is a great listen and never gets boring. The CD begins with an immediately welcoming and upbeat song that is reminiscent of Six Pence None the Richer's hit song, 'Kiss Me', but far more folk and jazz based. The vocals are tight and the song is certainly catchy. The cd then progresses through a blend of funk, pop, country, gothic and electronica, highlighting warm lead vocals and sweet, angelic background harmonies. It sounds like a strange mix, but somehow it works. The cd is certainly a sincere expression of poetic lyrics and passionate, heartfelt vocals that expressly capture mood. This is a mood album, and bears listening to with headphones in the dark, in order to really appreciate the soundscapes and eclectic arrangements, and the journey through six beautiful song moments. My one complaint would be that it is much too short. I look forward to future music from Caroline Spence.
