Granted, we raised a few eyebrows when we decided to record an all-gospel record. No, we haven't been "saved" in the traditional sense -- no bolts of lightning or a near-death revelations. But, in the past few years, we have nurtured a love for a new (at least to Charlie, Ted and myself), uplifting and spiritual genre of music. On a few levels, black gospel is one of the last true havens for "soul music." There is certainly no other form of music that drives musicians and audiences to such soaring levels of passion, and unites them with a common bond. For gospel fans, many of these songs will be familiar; for secular fans, we hope they will feel familiar. Often, there is far less distance between saints and sinners then the sanctimonious would have you believe. Our aim is touch hearts and souls, whether they be in the tavern or the church. ML.
