Artist - Short Description:
Based near London, England, Mike has issued many releases over the years, most recently the critically acclaimed 'Gravity' album, impeccably produced by Ed Poole.
Mike's influences are many and varied, from classic West Coast Americana such as Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, and James Taylor to the innovative melodiousness and lyrical edge of The Beatles, Elvis Costello and Sting.
His soulful voice can hit top 'C' with gusto, and yet resonate at lower registers with ease, its tone a silken swathe with an abrasive hessian underside.
Mike Carroll is one half of ChoonSmiffs, a song-writing partnership wth Steve Hillier; they specialise in melodic, groove-based pop for a more musically mature audience.

Excellent album, highly recommended
author: Peter Richards
I was given this cd by a friend for inclusion in an FM radio station project for local artists to promote their work (Aylesbury, UK) and was amazed at the quality of the song-writing and production. The title track of the album is the pick of the tracks, but is pushed hard by Let Yourself Go and Move me for this honour. Most of the rest of the tracks are reminiscent of Sade's style, with a lot of rock-jazz in there and would work well for the end of evening seduction routine. Strongly recommended.
