Album Notes

Modern folk duo guitarist Dave Carter and violinist Tracy Grammer first paired up on this 1998 release, When I Go. Apparent from the start is the pair's sensitive interplay and pristine sound. While a bit thinner-sounding than Tanglewood Tree, the album is no less charming, featuring Carter's signature enigmatic tales of rural life and Grammer's yearning violin sound. Re-released in 2002.

It Just Sets you on Fire
author: Michael Trew
The Music of Dave Carter and Tracey Grammer has been one of the deepest musical experiences of my life. This is the 2nd Album of thiers I found. first was 7 is the Number of a Man. It was a new recording of all Dave first record before the 2 ever met. So in a way I think I'm listening to them in order. Though they say they don't write happy songs I feel therea lot of positivity and light that emanates from the record as a whole. Dave really knows how to cut loose and have fun, even while making a point and telling a story about feelin down. I'm so glad I found them. I'm a young songwriter and this duo has become the jewel of my listening time. As a side note... I was invited to play at a songwriter showcase is Portland back in Dec of 2006. at some little pub down by the river. it was a neat little place, good songwriters. this month I read in an interview that that same little attic bar by the river was where Dave and Tracey first met... Love to them!
