Album Notes

Hailing from the musical hotbed of Minneapolis, Scott Gagner began his career as a drummer for several bands in San Francisco. When he found that his housemates didn't respond well to his noisy rehearsals, he traded in the drums for an acoustic guitar and began writing songs. A rabid interest in home recording quickly developed, and he began capturing his tunes on a 4-Track Cassette Recorder in his bedroom. Several years and several hundred songs later, he took the best tracks to a studio deep in the redwoods of northern California. He and several friends then finished the overdubs in the bedroom, adding violin, glockenspiel, mellotron, synthesizers, and of course, hand claps. The result is the eponymous debut, Cartographer.
