Album Notes

* "When was the last time you went to see any live Israeli group and you felt like a Semi-trailer has crashed into you?" ("mako.co.il" - Zachi Biran)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* "two-piece from Israel whose sole intent is to make a hell of a racket...It helped that the skin basher is a born-again drumming lunatic, full of tricks and angles (such as balancing one-legged on his stool) and the doe-eyed harpy who thrashes her guitar as if it was a ragdoll threw a lot of interesting musical shapes. This was live music at its best, creative, fun, of the moment, allowing the audience to suspend disbelief… It was fantastic" ("incendiarymag.com" Richard Foster)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* "In countries that have Rock'n'Roll flowing in their blood circulation, Tamar Aphek would star on magazine covers long time ago. Yesterday she stood on the stage.. looking and sounding like a guitar hero coming into being" ("Ha-Aretz", Ben shalev)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* "On the drums, one of the busiest virtuosos bashers…
you have to catch them live to believe (or not to believe)
what this guy can do with a pair of sticks"
(Israel 'Ha'aretz' -Amir Shilo)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* ""Aphek has a guitar sound that many guitar players in Israel would die for, Schehter is one of the best drummers in Israel, If not the best"
("hasharat.co.il" - Omri Greenberg)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* "Tamar induces a feeling of a diva from hell,
authoritative and enchanting talented writer"
("walla.co.il"- Einav shif)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* "Courtesy of some massive drumming that locks itself super-tight…
sudden chaotic moments of blast-beat drumming"
("TheMag.uk"- Steve)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* "With a Guitarist/Performer as freezing as Tamar Aphek,
that needs a much bigger stage than that."
(''walla.co.il' - Sharon Arieli)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* "A drummer from hell…I swear, there was a third hand…"
(Tel Aviv 'City mouse' - Michael Rorberg)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* "He who never saw a mischievous girl singing and sliding her fingers
up on the neck of a telecaster, wouldn't ever understand the story."
('106fm.co.il' - Sa'ar Gamzo)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* "Shechter still pounds away on the skins like a deranged savage"
('progressiveworld.net' - Marcelo Silveyra)

Biography:

Formed in late 2007, Tel-Aviv’s heavy rock duo ‘Carusella’ is the musical project of guitarist and singer Tamar Aphek and drummer and singer Guy Shechter. Carusella is the culmination of years of writing and playing songs in other renowned bands in the Israeli alternative scene. In late 2008 Carusella independently released a debut album which gained massive recognition from the Israeli and European media. In their two years activety, the band toured massively in Europe and the US managing to play over 200 shows. Have taken part in respected festivals such as 'SXSW'/Austin,TX; 'Mission Creek Festival'/Iowa City, IA; 'Fusion festival'/Lars Field, DE; 'DUNAjam'/Sardinia, IT, and shared stage with bands such as 'Editors', 'Deerhoof', 'Torche', 'Kykesa' and many more. In using only guitar and drums, they stretched boundaries in their writing to deliver a fresh kind of genuine hardcore. Heavy and aggressive yet arranged almost poppy and catchy at the same time. Carusella's show is placed in the center of the room, closely sharing their tensed chemistry and explosive charged energies with the crowd. They are literally the meaning of “Boy-Girl”, “Super Loud”, and “Two Are Enough".

AWESOME

A primitive and innovative play ground. seems there's no point keeping a bass player around. the fusion of guitar and drums produce a roaring and out bursting sound of their own. though maintaining a mad egressive presentation all the way, the songs shine out and are always to the point. the roomy drums are extremely tight and full of drive while the guitar is clinging along like it's playing totally live and deliberately dirty by its touch. divided by the tracks, each member sings his own song making the album sound like a sort of a compilation. "Star Quality" is standing out like a pearl waiting to be discovered. amazingly catchy and poppy song that holds a paradox statement : "there is no star quality, it's just the way you look at me...look at me, look at me". also catchy tunes are "You say" and "Sally" that have a tensed and dramatic flow in them. The repeatedly opening whisper of "it's the jewish way" on "Conclusion" quickly burst into a metal blow out and through the song it reveals an experimental shade from the band. close to the ending of the track it shifts into the soundtrack of a car chase movie. "I Smile" seems to have been driven from classical music influences. somewhat of a ferry tail saga. the album ends too soon leaving you humming the melodies repeatedly wanting for more.
