Conjunto de Guitarras Sete Colinas (Helder Carvalheira, Manuel Escobar, João Cardadeiro) has been performing since 2003, playing Fado shows throughout North America and Europe for Fadistas (Fado vocalists) from Portugal, United States, and Canada. Their first CD, “Noites nas Sete Colinas” was released in 2004 to much critical acclaim, and with sales worldwide.
“Ao Luar” (the title translates to “By the Moonlight”) is Sete Colinas’ second CD of Guitarradas de Fado. While still retaining the classic Guitarrada sound from their first CD, "Ao Luar" expands upon that with fresh arrangements that highlight Manuel Escobar's viola and João Cardadeiro's bass, showcasing the depth of musical knowledge gained from many years of performing together. The group also includes new instrumentation on several tracks, introducing piano, flute, accordion, and percussion to their repertoire. Finally, the group pays homage to the music of the Azores and Madeira islands with exciting new arrangements highlighting the traditional music of those regions.
Come experience Guitarradas de Fado, the soul of Portugal, with Sete Colinas’ “Ao Luar”.

This CD is a great sampling of the best in Portuguese music. I enjoyed it as much as the first CD. The tasteful addition of non-guitar instruments was a special treat as was the addition of some music from the islands.
