DOWN AT THE ZOO is the labor of love of Austin musicians Malcolm “Papa Mali” Welbourne (Papa Mali & The Instigators, Killer Bees) and George Carver (Ponty Bone, The Modern Agriculture, Lonelyland), and features performances by other great Texas musicians including David Sanger (Asleep At The Wheel), David Carroll (Billy Joe Shaver), Amy Farris (Kelly Willis), Rick McRae (George Strait) and Mark Rubinstein.

The CD features original compositions by Carver and Welbourne, including the title track “Down At The Zoo.” So jump back with “The Funky Yak,” step aside for the Sara Brown composition “Kangaroo Ride.” You'll have a good time “Jammin' At The Zoo,” and everybody sing along to the classic Meters song, “They All Asked For You!”

Fun and Diverse

This is a very fun album.  I love to go to the zoo, and this has songs about all kinds of different animals, about what they do, or even that they don't like the zoo...  There are fast and slow songs, many that are fun to sing along with.  It is so diverse that sometimes it sounds like there are more than one artists. In a very good way.
