Thanks for reviewing this album! You should see it show up on the album page in a few days.
Book of Rhymes is certainly a release that epitomises the rare depth and diversity of material referred to by the above CD Baby review. You wonder how the fragile almost ethereal voice of When Skies Are Blue could also be the feisty Rock-Chick that belts out Lady Liberty. However, the chief achievement of Book of Rhymes is that despite transcending several styles and moods it retains a unified album feel. This is not a collection of songs thrown together but a thoughtfully programmed journey, that peaks (for me at least) in the remarkable Remembering You. This song is among my top ten for the year, Cary delivers a lovely vocal performance that is capped with an exquisite mandolin line from Vince Gill. I wouldn't attempt to pigeonhole Cary's voice with anyone else's but I would say the varying styles on the album would mean that fans of Nancy Griffith, Bonnie Raitt, Carol Noonan, Kim Carnes etc. etc. etc. will easily find something to admire in this release.
