Casey Rankin is an American Singer/Songwriter living in Tokyo Japan since 1971. In 1974 he started a band called Short Hope with Freeman McLarty, a Canadian piano player, Mike Dunn, a Bass player from New Zealand, Carlos DeCouto and Rob Brill. Rob Brill went on to play drums for Berlin. After Short Hope Casey began writing soundtracks for Film, Jingles and started a new band called Shogun. With Shogun Casey won the best new group, best album best single in 1979. Casey continues to write and record - To date he has recorded and released over 30 albums and continues to write for television and film. Many of his songs have become standards within Japan and can be found on all Karaoke systems thoughout Japan. Shogun's legendary status is based on Casey's songs. Particularly the first single, Otoko-tachi No Melody, for which he won the best writer award and Bad City which has now become a Pachinko Game featuring the actor Matsuda Yusaku. Bad City was the original score for Yusaku's TV series 'Tantei Monogatari which also garnered Casey a number of awards from the Japanese music industry.
